San Diego is the southern reach of our routes, about an hour from our Temecula warehouse. Crews cover Rancho Bernardo, Rancho Peñasquitos, Scripps Ranch, Carmel Valley, Torrey Highlands, Del Sur, Tierrasanta, Clairemont, Mission Hills, North Park, Point Loma, La Jolla, Del Cerro, and down through Chula Vista.
North of the 52, most homes are 1980s-to-2010s two-stories on canyon lots: stucco, concrete tile, and a front elevation with two or three gables. Those outline beautifully in warm-white C9s, and because the back often drops into a canyon, we focus the quote on the lines that read from the street. Rancho Peñasquitos has the famous Christmas Card Lane, and plenty of families there and in Scripps Ranch want to hold their own next to it.
The older neighborhoods are a different craft. Spanish revival in Mission Hills and Kensington means clay barrel tile and stucco parapets; craftsman in North Park and University Heights means exposed rafter tails and wood fascia; Clairemont and Point Loma are mid-century with low, wide eaves. We choose the clip for the roof, never nails or staples, and route cords so the house looks clean by day.
The marine layer and the coastal breeze in La Jolla and Point Loma call for the same sealed-socket commercial cord we use in every beach city. Garrison Street in Point Loma turns into one of the county's best light streets every December, and we are happy to help a home hold its own there. HOAs in the newer communities from Del Sur to Carmel Valley set holiday windows, and we schedule inside them.

Can you light a canyon-lot home where the back of the house drops away?
Yes. On canyon lots we usually light the street-facing roofline and gables, which is what neighbors and passing cars see, and skip the back unless you want it for your own view. We measure it all on satellite before the call and quote only the lines you want.
Do you install on clay barrel tile and Spanish revival homes?
Yes. Tile clips tuck under the barrel tile with no drilling, and on stucco parapets we run the line along the top edge. Mission Hills, Kensington, and the older La Jolla homes are some of the nicest installs we do.
